In France, it is not uncommon that people are scared to speak English, even though they are learning the language at school. I think we need to change the way languages are taught at school. We need to focus more on oral expression and make people more comfortable when they express themselves. When I was in high school, there were English speaking language assistants, young people who were focussing on oral expression. This should be developed and made more systematic to improve people’s language skills.
