A fur-free Europe: ban the sales and production of fur in the EU

As much as 95% of fur comes from animals who are confined to cages for their entire lives.

Over 100 million animals are brutally killed for their fur every year.

Fur farming spreads zoonotic disease.

Ending the sales of fur will decrease demand for cruel products, reduce public health risks, promote community awareness of animal welfare and foster a more humane environment. In 2021, Israel became the world’s first country to prohibit the sale of fur.

In the last two decades, 25 countries have either voted to ban fur farming, have prohibited the farming of certain species, or have introduced stricter regulations that have effectively curtailed the practice. As concerns about animal welfare, the ethics of fur and public health continue to grow, proposals to ban fur production are presently being considered in many other countries.
